MEMORY VERSE: Matthew 22:37 “Jesus said unto him, thou shalt love the Lord thy God with
all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.”

TEACHER’S OBJECTIVE
1. To acquaint the children with the greatest commandment.
2. To expose the children to the need to love their neighbour as Jesus loves the church.

CENTRAL TRUTH
We must show love to everybody.

INTRODUCTION
Introduce the lesson by teaching the children the following song:
          Helping others is the way
          To show God’s love everyday
          Jesus in me helps me be
          Kind and good to all I see.
          Show love to others (3x)
          Whoever they may be.

PROGRESSION OF EVENTS
1. This world is made up of different people, tribes and professions – Matthew 22:33-35.
2. The commandments of God are many-Matthew 22:36.
3. Of all the commandments love is the greatest – Matthew 22:38
4. Whom to love? God nad our neighbour – Matthew 22:37, 39

APPLICATION
Can it be said of you by your neighbours, friends, classmates and parents that you love. Is
there any record about you that you really love God and man? Can the people around tell of
your strong love towards the people of God and the work of God?

MESSAGE OF SALVATION
Jesus is love. God sent Him to this world to die for us because he cares. What do you have
to give back to this loving Father? Nothing but your heart. Open your heart for Him to come
in today.

CHALLENGES
If after today you still find it difficult to love the Lord with all your heart and your
neighbour then you are not of God. So pray for God to implant His love in your heart.

ACTIVITY
1. How can we show love to everybody?
2. How can we show love to God?

The father ran out to meet his son and welcomed him home again.
The father loved his son with all his heart.
